If you had pick just one day to be in Bude, I suspect many people would choose ‘Lifeboat Day’ on August bank holiday. The RNLI are always blessed with good weather and the town, beaches and downs are a-buzz with events and activities that range from crabbing competitions at the sea lock to fun runs, pasty competitions, stalls, street food, to the various rescue demonstrations by the lifeboat, lifeguards and coastguard team. There are classic cars, high jinks on the canal, and a big marquee with various events during the day, and of course a bar to quench your thirst. It’s all brought to a climax in the evening with a stunning firework display.
